About us
How the Pademelon Fund works, and the AEGN Nature Funding Framework we use to decide who to support.

Our Mission
The Pademelon Fund was established in 2022 to support environmental NGOs and grassroots initiatives in the fight against critical environmental challenges. Through partnerships and participation in collective philanthropic giving circles, we aim to promote Australian environmental conservation by providing crucial financial support to innovative and often underresourced initiatives.
How we work
We are a small, independent fund with a collaborative mindset to environmental philanthropy. We aim to support environmental NGOs and grassroots initiatives through funding partnerships. In doing so, we strive to maintain a balance between breadth and impact in funding allocations, preferring to give out larger sums of money for a smaller number of organisations to ensure that donations are able to make a real difference.
Decision-making framework
We use the AEGN’s Nature Funding Framework to help decide who we support. This framework includes the 7 levers for change, which breaks down strategic philanthropy into 7 categories:
- Applied Conservation
- Legal
- Science, Research and Monitoring
- Communication and Education
- Participation and Agency
- Capacity Building and Coordination
- Economy
